Project description

A new 4-storey self-storage facility on this sensitive site adjacent to the River Colne and existing residential development. The external appearance of the building needed to be handled with particular ingenuity to achieve a composition that would be appropriate for the context and setting.

The design team at Mountford Pigott drew its inspiration from an image of a Japanese bamboo forest to derive an external treatment of slender vertical panels in subtly varying shades.
