Mixed-Use Development approved

Mountford Pigott is pleased to announce that planning approval has been granted for a new mixed-use development at Staples Corner on a very prominent site adjacent the North Circular.

The development will comprise a self-storage facility incorporating flexi-office space totalling 12,000m² of new floorspace with a striking design.  The site presented interesting challenges for the design team since it is irregularly shaped and detached from its local context by the River Brent, the A5, the A406 and a railway line.  These constraints dictated a hexagonal plan form for the building.  The design concept plays upon the prismatic form inspired by geological references to geodes through the use of a dark, textured, sculptural shell fractured in key locations to reveal a smooth, yellow, inner layer and glass core. The fractures are aligned to key views into the site providing intervisibility between approach routes and internal circulation spaces in the building.

Tender design has already been progressed and negotiations are well advanced with a Main Contractor. Demolition of the existing and outdated car showroom will commence shortly.
